Hello again!

I am moving my blog Mathematics under the Microscope from Blogger to WordPress, for sake of $\LaTeX$. The picture in the header is for testing purposes, I’ll replace it with something more suitable.

Responses

1. Is $\LaTeX$ allowed in comments?

2. Clearly it is!
$\displaystyle \int_{0}^{1}\frac{x^{4}\left( 1-x\right) ^{4}}{1+x^{2}}dx=\frac{22}{7}-\pi$

3. Welcome! Now we just need to get Isabel over here.

4. it seems that the old blog is hosted on the site of your employer, so it could have been possible to tell them to install WordPress blog engine locally…

5. A good point. But our IT people are so overloaded that I would not dare approach them with a whimsy.

6. I’m fairly sure that wordpress can import from blogger, so will you be importing the old posts, or starting afresh?

I once considered moving to wordpress, but math isn’t a major feature on my blog, so I figured I can just upload images of LaTeX I make locally if the need should arise. I’m sure this will be much more convenient for you, though, so I wish you luck.

7. not an unmixed blessing;
they take random liberties with one’s code.
still, i suppose i’ve been pretty satisfied–
certainly no worse than i expected …

8. or you can just hot link them…
like mathtran.com
or even steal wordpress’s bandwidth

9. I thought I recognised the name! How many of us from Manchester are there in the maths blogsphere?

10. ooh, I’m excited, I’m a bit scared that there is no preview button for the \LaTeX ,

But let’s try anyway

\forall x\in \mathbb{R}-\{0\}\; \exists y\in \mathbb{R}-\{0\}: x\times y=1

11. is there something I’m not doing?

12. Enclose the formula in dollar signs:

$\forall x\in \mathbb{R}-\{0\}\; \exists y\in \mathbb{R}-\{0\}: x\times y=1$

13. The first dollar signs should be followed by latex: .
